About Me

My photo
College Student. Sometimes dancer. Aspiring fashion journalist and everyday style enthusiast. I started my blog back in 2010 on a whim, and now it has grown into the visual representation of the power that I believe fashion can have. It's not about having clothes it's about what you do with them, what you wear says who you are. Fashion is transformative, and a chic bag or outfit puts a smile on my face as much as a good book on a rainy day. My blog is about dressing the undergrad and young professional, because so little markets cater to our style. You've officially been accepted into The Undergrad Style File. Deck the Hauls

While Christmas may be over, there's still the New Year to ring in, new outfits to create, and a time to clear out my chaotic closet and find somewhere to put the lovely things I received for Christmas. Here's a quick rundown of some of the items I received. I desperately need new jewelry because I never seem to hold on to a pair of earring for longer than a year, especially small ones. I'm going for a more classic with an edge look in 2014 and I have recently fallen in love with stud earrings. I can't wait to style the blush colored infinity studs and gold and black earrings above. I've been looking for an actual vintage cameo necklace, but the tiny one above will do for now. Of course, I got pearls. No questions asked. Pictured above are the bag and boots from my Christmas outfit post. Finally are my new caramel colored combat boots that feature a red and black plaid lining so I can fold the top of the boot down. These boots are made for walking!

Keep reading for my New Year's post, announcements, and new series coming to the blog. What's your 2014 style resolutions? Tell me all bout it in the comments section.

Santa Baby

Boots: Vince Camuto (Marshall's), Lip Color: Wet n Wild's Cherry Bomb

Puffer Coat (Marshall's), Statement Necklace (JC Penny)

Bag: Steve Madden (Burlington Coat Factory), Dress: (JC Penny), Tights (Old Navy)
By now we've all torn through metallic wrapped gifts, devoured sticky sugar cookies, and played Santa Baby on a loop, I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and your respective holidays. I opted for a chic and simple outfit for Christmas Day. My outfit needed to be festive but comfortable, I did double duty at breakfast at my mother's house and then dinner at my grandparents' house. Needless to say my dress was perfect for stuffing my face. I did something different other than the typical reds and greens we usually see during this time, and went for a taupe wrap dress, and paired it with a matching Steve Madden satchel and my quilted leather boots. To keep the look from drowning in neutrals I added an orange bubble necklace and matching studs. The entire look was a Christmas present ;).

See you in the New Year!

Sweater Weather

Sweater Weather
Hey undergrads, I hope you're trimming the tree and watching the Home Alone movies for the 20th time like me. When you're sipping hot chocolate with fluffy, drenched marshmallows or running out for last minute Christmas shopping, you want an outfit that is stylishly lazy. Get in with the oversize printed sweater trend with a chic, cream and navy blue Aztec print. Pair it with leggings and a long tank (p.s. leggings are not pants, but I won't tell if you don't). Top it off with cozy boot socks and rugged brown combat boots, which I am still on the hunt for. Add a gold chevron arrow necklace for visual interest and have a cozy chic day!

Happy Holidays,

Haute Holiday Outfits

Whether you are lighting a tree or menorah, winter holidays are the perfect time to be your best dressed.
Sparkle and shine have reigned as festive wardrobe staples for the past years. My friends and I opted for something a little simpler but still just as fitting for holiday festivities. We decked the halls with oxblood hues, sea green chiffon, and royal blue lace for a holiday work party. What's on your holiday haute list? Do you sparkle or shine?

Red Lipstick Mondays

Happy Monday! As college students the last words we think of is red lipstick on a Monday. It's more like sweatpants, Uggs, and a frown. But I've decided to be bold, which is why I have declared Mondays to be Red a Lipstick Mondays. Every Monday I will feature a new red lip look, and break the myth of red as a special occasion color. It's bold but can be styled in a subtle way. Hopefully this will inspire us college students to give the sweatpants a break.

Stay fierce,
Tiff

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things: Dorm Room Re-do

As promised, here is the long awaited dorm room reveal, I don't have any before pictures. But think white cinderblock and brown tiled floors. Enough said. For some reason I leaned towards, black, white, and pink as my color scheme. Mostly because my comforter features these colors in a bold graphic, floral print. I wanted my room to have a boutique feel and serve as a visual homage to all things fashion and classic Hollywood.

Just A Little Charleston

The age of excess or the jazz age, however you refer to the 1920s, it was a time of bootleg liquor, gangsters and crooks, and wild girls who dared to have hemlines above the knee. Flappers were distinct for their bobbed hair, heavy makeup, wild dancing, and devil-may-care attitude.

As an homage to the daring personas, I dressed as a flapper for a costume party, and the look was the bee's knees (insert 1920s slang here). It featured a black fringe dress for maximum movement as I did the Charleston of course. I had long black gloves, my quintessential strand of pearls, and a feather in my hair. The look was finished off my patterned fishnet tights, patent leather pumps, and my cigarette holder, it was fabulous darling.

Feeling A Little Grunge-y

Hey undergrads and the stylish at heart. Today's look was my outfit for a dinner date with my mom. I chose this red and black plaid ( or tartan, if you're feeling fancy),fleece lined vest. In light of the 90s revival in fashion and pieces inspired by the grunge area, I had to snatch up this vest when I saw it at Burlington Coat Factory for $16.99. Take it in for a moment... As a self-admitted vintage/eclectic/preppy/girly/casual chic/ posh style lover I do have a slight fascination with the grunge era. For those of you who are unfamiliar the grunge era, this period of fashion during the 1990s, was the brainchild of those who followed the grunge style of music, think Nirvana. It was a style of necessity and stylish "carelessness"; it was all Doc Martens, and plaid flannels. The look screamed "I don't care about fashion" which of course made it a haphazard fashion trend.

Underneath, I'm wearing a black, pleated chiffon blouse, that is at least two sizes too big, so I cinched it with a big black and silver waist belt. I paired it with dark rinse skinnies and my favorite cognac colored ankle booties. I felt like the look screamed fall. How do you feel about grunge? Mad for plaid? Tell me all about it in the comments section.

Fall Fever

Fall Fever

Hey undergrads and fashionable people! I've been gone from the blog for awhile but I
promise it's because I have fierce, fashionable projects in the works. In the mean time...
here's my top three picks of what I'm craving for fall. Leather, leather, leather!
In boots, jackets, cuffs, and on bags, I love anything leather ( or a good faux),
it's such a tough accent and can make you instantly feel more sleek.
I've been wary of cheetah/leopard print for years but now I'm ready to
face my wild side, so to speak. I'm taking it in small doses, with accessories,
a great leopard print shoe or infinity scarf is perfect for fall.
I love ankle booties, fringe is a fresh update on a classic silhouette, and
adds a bit of boho to any look.
What are your top picks for fall?
