About Me

My photo
College Student. Sometimes dancer. Aspiring fashion journalist and everyday style enthusiast. I started my blog back in 2010 on a whim, and now it has grown into the visual representation of the power that I believe fashion can have. It's not about having clothes it's about what you do with them, what you wear says who you are. Fashion is transformative, and a chic bag or outfit puts a smile on my face as much as a good book on a rainy day. My blog is about dressing the undergrad and young professional, because so little markets cater to our style. You've officially been accepted into The Undergrad Style File. The Mystery Behind the Mask

This past weekend was the grand event I've been helping plan all year...spring formal!!! It was a huge success, 120 students, including yours truly. We set sail on the Delaware River on the three-tiered Ben Franklin Yacht, for a night of music, food, and some really good cake :).

But now what you all came here for, the fashion of course. It was a masquerade, which I jumped at of course, so I decided to go all old Hollywood mystery for this one. I chose an elegant, and spring-inspired lilac gown, deep purple colored heels  pictured here,
Lilac Halter Top Gown (25$ Burlington Coat Factory)
and a lace mask from Amazon, because I do not have the gift of craftiness, so I opted to buy one pictured here .
Black Semi-Transparent Mask

The Classic Duck-face
Another note-worthy look of the night is my friend Cierra's dress. She paired an aqua green satin dress of her design with a simple black shoe, and completed the look with sparkly accessories. Clearly we belonged in the 1930's that night. Happy Fashion!

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things: Winter Edition

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things: Winter Edition

So this post will be short and sweet, because of course it's Christmas Eve, and what's sweeter?
A top three few of my favorite things now, that are trending the most on my Winter wishlist. Chunky, warm, infinity scarves, they come in a variety of styles, fabrics, and can be worn multiple ways...more bang for your buck. Oversized sweaters, whether open knit, asymmetrical, or off-the-shoulder they are cozily stylish. And while you wear your oversized weater with an infinity scarf of course! Drink coffee, decadent hot chocolate or soothing tea ( mint is my personal fav)..because tis' the season :)

Gobble, Gobble

So it's that time again...the one day where anything but a Turkey and filling your belly would be uncivilized. THANKSGIVING! Breaking out my Christmas spirit, I went for a cherry red skater dress, some black sweater tights for warmth, and my goes with everything black boots. I put my twists into a ballet bun, to keep  up a posh feel and then stuffed my face :) .The festive season is upon us, and remember to take every opportunity just to feel a little special. Today was the day to remember how fortunate we really are, stylishly of course. Happy Turkey Day! Eat a slice of pie for me.

The Weather Outside May Be Frightful...

But that is no reason your fashion can't be delightful. In the midst of the dramatic drop in temperatures on the East Coast, I took the opportunity to pull out some flannel. In order to bring some glam to the rustic appeal of flannel, I threw on a baby pink crystal necklace, some black sweater tights for warmth, and my fav cognac colored riding boots. But you can make the look your own by adding a vest or a cardigan for another layer of interest (and warmth ;) ). Happy Fashion!

Brights, Done Right

As the summer draws to a close and we roll up our sleeves and button up our high-waisted shorts for the last time, I present what might be my favorite fashion element. Nails!! They can class up or liven up any outfit, From the basic white T and jeans college staple or take it up a notch for those people who blessedly look fabulous everyday.

My favorite way to do this is with pops of color, take my OPI Turquoise nail polish for example. A bright and fun color that can easily transcend seasons, if the rest of an outfit is kept pared down, then bright fingertips can act as a neutral. To make nails, an outfit component all on its own pick bold and brave jewelry, (bracelets, rings), like my aqua blue stone cocktail ring from H&M, pictured above.
